ACQUAINTANCE AND CONCEPT

Every illustration project begins with a meeting (face to face or online) with the client, to discuss the specific message to be translated to an illustration/visualisation. During this meeting we will also discuss the preferred media for the goal intended, and the contractual requirements.

SKETCHING PHASE

In this phase the first lines  are set to create the optimal design of the desired Illustration.

A variety of sources can be used, based on the topic of the illustration, eg.:  anatomical specimens (already dissected or dissected by myself), photographs, notes and drawings from  observing (surgical) procedures, ...

During this process,  focus lies on researching the topic and regular communication with the client.

ELABORATION

After arriving on the final sketch (approved by the client), the targeted illustration will be created with the medium and style discussed previously.

DEBRIEF AND FINALISATION

The client and the illustrator will sit together for a ‘debrief’ where minor changes will be discussed and incorporated.*  Once approved, the final illustration will be delivered in the format  the client requires (as per contract).

*if major, unforeseen changes need to be made, additional costs may apply.
